Opportunities: Post-Doctoral Research Position
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for two postdoctoral researcher positions with the Combustion Chemistry Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The post(s) involves the development of detailed chemical kinetic reaction mechanisms to describe the oxidation of oxygenated hydrocarbons under engine and gas turbine conditions. The project forms part of the Combustion Chemistry Centre’s (
C3) programme funded by SFI (
http://c3.nuigalway.ie/). The successful candidates will integrate into a 12 person research team led by Dr. Henry Curran at NUI Galway as well as contribute to the collaborative research efforts with other combustion research groups.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must have a Ph.D., or a Ph.D thesis submitted, in Combustion/Physical Chemistry or a related discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering). They should have a high level of experience and competence in combustion chemistry and chemical kinetic modelling. A demonstrated output in terms of published papers in peer-reviewed journals is also required. In addition, an interest in combustion, good writing, and communication skills are essential for this project, which will involve close collaboration with other members of
C3 including industrial partners. A candidate with a knowledge or experience of detailed chemical kinetic modelling would have an advantage.
